Steve presents The Pleasure Dome Radio show at 6pm on Saturday evening and one hour of jazz, soul, and timeless classics every Sunday night from 7pm with The Cool Nights show.
The Pleasuredome Radio Show is a one-hour programme of club classics from the 1980s.
The Cool Nights radio show features an eclectic mix of jazz, soul, and timeless classics from across the decades. The radio programme includes news reports of some of the week’s events from around the world as well as a fun music/movie trivia quiz (only one rule; no Googling).
Steve Hart’s Pleasure Dome radio show was launched in January 2013 and features club classics from the 1980’s featuring many of the 12-inch 45’s that never got air play when they filled dance floors at the hippest nightclubs across the UK, Europe and the US during the 80’s.
During the 1980’s and 90’s Steve was resident DJ at UK venues such as Dr Zhivago’s, Electric Blue, High Society, The Sam Lords, and The Zero 6 – all located around Southend-On-Sea, Essex.
He also enjoyed residencies at Kent nightclubs such as Oceans 11, Hythe, Nero’s 2000 in Ramsgate and Woody’s on the Isle of Sheppey.
Radio work included BBC Essex and Essex FM, he presented the breakfast show on Basildon Radio, and was a volunteer for 10 years at Southend Hospital Radio.
We can’t forget his three years as the voice of Fashion ‘n’ Fun Radio Top Shop in Southend, where he managed the in-store radio station and presented shows most days.
“The Top Shop job started with me DJing in the Top Man record store on Saturdays, then Top Shop’s manager (Jim) asked me to work there full time running Radio Top Shop,” says Steve.
“I remember saying – not quite believing what I was hearing; ‘you want me to DJ in here every day?’. It was a dream job and I couldn’t sign the contract fast enough”!
